Fall Of Kabul Must Serve As A Lesson To Uganda, Semujju Nganda

Hon. Semujju Nganda has said the fall of Kabul to the Taliban must in all ways be a lesson to Uganda and other countries. This is especially for the countries engaged in costly foreign missions.

Semujju said this during a news conference. He says those who escorted America to Afghanistan have been left embarrassed. This is due to the chaos in Afghanistan that the US withdrawal has caused.

“The very people (terrorists) that America and allies went to fight in Afghanistan are now working hand in hand with them. As a country we must not pride ourselves in occupying or helping the occupation of other countries,” he said.

He however said as FDC, they truly sympathize with the Afghans. Afghans have endured war for the last six decades.

“We would therefore be willing to offer them any assistance so they live a happy life including hosting them in our country. We will only demand that all necessary health/Covid-19 protocols are followed and their settlement or hosting is in line with international refugee conventions,” he said.

Currently, Uganda is receiving Afghans in different refugee camps. Following the fall of Kabul, the US has asked a number of countries to help accommodate thousands of Afghans.

However, this will be for a short time because they will soon be heading to America. Many other countries such as UAE, Qatar, and Germany have accepted to help America in hosting the Afghans.
