SOUTH SUDAN: NBA Fans Excited As South Sudan Set To Play Against US At 2024 Olympics This Week

NBA fans are in somber moods this week as South Sudan is set to play against the famous American team at the 2024 Paris Olympics this week.

This comes after American players struggled the previous week to beat South Sudan before the Olympics.

The South Sudan NBA team is still new in the game. They have been playing locally but haven’t even won any trophies to put them on the world map.

With their previous game against the US team, NBA fans started seeing their ability to win globally. This puts them ahead as one of the best teams to watch this Olympic season.

In the nation’s first-ever Olympic basketball game, South Sudan defeated Puerto Rico, 90–79. It’s now set to play against the US team on 1st August 2024 and fans are excited to see what will happen If they win, they will have made history as the first African team to beat the legendary team at the Olympics.

It’s a mind-blowing achievement for a war-torn country that’s only existed for 12 years. The nation also apparently doesn’t even have a single indoor basketball stadium.

This is a team filled with refugees and the children of refugees who fled unthinkable violence in their homeland.

It’s also a team that would barely have enough money to function if it wasn’t for former NBA all-star Luol Deng stepping in and personally funding the program.
