This was after a lot of uncertainties over whether he was coming through.
Midway through his performance, he told Ugandans to support their fellows. He added that if it wasn’t for Nigerians supporting him too, he wouldn’t be where he is today.
“… Support Ugandan artists, because even for me if it wasn’t for Nigerians supporting me I wouldn’t be me,” Davido said.
It was then that he gave a chance to Grenade Official to sing one song. The singer performed his Nkuloga song but was met with a cold reception.
The audience which was already fired up did the opposite of what Davido had asked them. It was here that even a social media user pointed this out.
“Davido said this while introducing Grenade on stage. But to my shock, people refused to sing with Grenade and they just kept looking. But why really? One song like this, which everyone literally knows (Nkuloga). We lack support for our own and it’s a very bad thing to see,” a social media user said in regards to Davido’s earlier request.
Other social media users quickly said that they can’t support musicians who can’t support them too. In times when they’re being oppressed, most musicians stand with their oppressors and therefore deserve no support.
