Fans of Mpaka Records boss Wycliffe Tugume aka Ykee Benda have come out to threaten to boycott him if he sings a song for President Museveni. This was after a request from blogger Ashburg Kato who identifies with NRM.
Ashburg took to his Twitter page to plead with the singer to do a track for Museveni although he’s not not into politics.
The blogger said that together with some ghetto youths, he wrote a song that they want to sing for the head of state. However, they are poor as church mice and would welcome any help from the Farma crooner.
“Dear @YkeeBenda, I knw ur not in2 politics but u can still do a truck for the President. Right? If yes then nsabayo ka FREE studio session bro. Thing is like this, I wrote a song & we’ve been rehearsing it with my ghetto yuts who wana sing it naye tetulinaamu atta sso,” Ashburg tweeted.

This saw Ykee Benda reply him calling him to the studio for negotiations. The singer’s fans straight away jumped into the comment section and warned him against taking this project.
Ykee Benda always steered himself clear of all political debates during the pre 2021 general election.
This is a thing that got him clashing with the People Power side as they wanted all artists to have a unanimous voice. He however always reiterated that he has fans from both sides.
If he decides to go ahead with the project, he might face the Big Eye and Bebe Cool scenario of being bottled on the stage.
