Farmers In Lamwo District Shocked After Discovery Of Dangerous Bombs

Farmers in Lamwo District experienced shock when the security operatives discovered two pieces of anti-tank landmines and more than 9,000 rounds of live ammunition left in Palabek Kal Sub County in the same District.

However, these dangerous explosives were discovered yesterday by the Uganda Peoples Defense Force (UPDF), after being alerted by farmers who were taking care of their gardens in Bigwen and Rubanga hills in Ayuu Alali.

Therefore, the Lamwo Resident District Commissioner Mr Kidega James Nabinson mentioned that the bombs are believed to have been planted by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel group, since they always camped in that area.

According to Mr Kidega, these recovered explosives are used to destroy buildings, vehicles and tanks, and each of the bullet casings had Arabic words attached.
