FDC Claims Newly Elected Speaker Of Parliament Hon Anita Among As Their Member

The Forum fr Democratic Change has come out to claim that the newly elected speaker of Parliament, Hon Anita Among is theirs.

The FDC MP for Obongi County, Hon Fungaroo Kaps made this claim while on NBS Morning Breeze show. This is because she’s originally from their party and therefore has that background in her veins.

Fungaroo complimented the new Speaker’s mobilization skills. He also urged her to reach out to all MPs and unite the August House for a common cause.

Fungaroo added that they expect her to side with the people and not the ruling class. Besides they expect a lot from her.

“The Rt. Hon. Anita Among is ours (FDC). She has that background. Hon. Anita Among is a good mobilizer. Let her use her good qualities to reach out to all legislators to unite them for the new agenda. She should also walk on the people’s side of life, not the Executive. We expect the best out of her,” Hon Fungaroo said.

The MP also said that FDC is still a top Opposition party in Uganda.

According to Fungaroo, FDC is the biggest Opposition party in Uganda while NUP is the leading Opposition party in Parliament.

“FDC is the biggest opposition political party in Uganda. NUP is the leading opposition political party in Parliament. Nobody should be deluded that FDC can be written off from the politics of Uganda. FDC is spread across the country,” he added.

Hon Anita Among won the Speakership race for the Speaker of Parliament last week after defeating Hon Asuman Basalirwa who had been fronted by opposition.

She had last year been elected to deputize the late Speaker Hon Jacob Oulanyah. Among is now expected to complete this term and probably run for another in 2026.

She will be deputised by Hon Thomas Tayebwa who resigned as government chief whip.
