A Fight For The Teachers’ Welfare Should Have Been Spearheaded By Parents – Dr Col Kizza Besigye

Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leader, Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye has said that the recent teachers strike over poor pay should not have been led by them.

It instead should have been parents of the learners leading the charge. This is because teachers are so important to the upbringing of these learners.

“A fight for the teachers’ welfare should not be by the teachers. It should be fought by the parents. We understand how important this is for our children,” Besigye said.

Kizza Besigye who recently came out of jail for protesting about the high prices of basic commodities also addressed the current economic crisis. Contrary to what the government says about Covid-19 causing the crisis and the Ukraine-Russia crisis, Besigye thinks otherwise. According to Besigye, the extremely exploitative system of Museveni is the cause.

“The economic crisis was not caused by the COVID-19 pandemic or the Ukrainian war. The cause is the extremely exploitative system of the Museveni junta. It starts with the capture of the state and a few people controlling the resources of our country,” Dr KB added.

Besigye also said that people should understand why the government uses force on them. It’s to chain them and take what’s theirs. They should be therefore aiming on how to defeat this force.

Besigye also says that to defeat the current economic situation, we need to change how they handle money in the country. There is a need of a totally different budget from the one ‘Kasaija and his slave master read.’

For the fuel crisis, Besigye applauded ex-president Idi Amin who built fuel reserves in Jinja. However, the NRM government which refers to him as ‘swine’ just handed them to an Indian investor.
