Ugandan musician, Fik Gaza has vowed to never perform in Saudi Arabia ever again. This follows his recent arrest in the country where he spent a couple of days behind bars. Shortly after his performance, Gaza got cuffed and thrown behind bars.
Fortunately for him, he was released after a couple of days following calls for his release from different Ugandan musicians such as Bobi Wine, Ykee Benda among others. Reacting to this arrest, the Banana singer said that was the last time he would ever perform there.
He did not clearly reveal why he was arrested, he only said that it’s not allowed to sing on stage in the Arab nation. This is therefore what led to his arrest. However, after the pressure imposed by Bobi Wine, he was released and even treated like a VIP.
Furthermore, the dancehall singer said that he can only go back to Saudi if it’s for personal business or vacation. Fik Gaza also said that even the promoter who took him to Saudi was also arrested and is still behind bars.
Read his statement below;
“I can never go back to perform in Saudi Arabia. Maybe when I’m going there to enjoy myself but as an artist, I cant. The reason why I was arrested was that they don’t allow people to perform on stage. But when the Principal, Bobi Wine roared, it was loud and clear. They released me and even treated me like a VIP escorting me to the airport,” the singer said.
For those saying that it’s a stunt, Fik Gaza told them to also do it. He will then see if the magnitude of voices calling for their release will be as loud as his were.
