Five FDC Members Vie For EALA Slot

The head of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) electoral commission has revealed that the party will conduct elections. These elections will help fill the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) slot.

Totelebuka Bamwenda addressed media at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi recently. He also said the party will hold the elections on Tuesday morning up to 5:00 pm at the party head offices in Najjanankumbi.

Bamwenda further said all members of the party’s national executive committee will be present during the election.

The party also recently set the collection of the nomination forms for all those that had an interest in the EALA slot. They were to be collected between January 24-25 and were to return them from January 27-28.

The party candidates that FDC nominated include Susan Nanyonjo, Dr. Joseph Tindyebwa, Harold Kaija, Jamal Wante, and Bob Barigye.

However, Parliament elects Uganda’s representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly and the Pan African Parliament.

The East African Legislative Assembly is the legislative organ of the East African Community and consists of members elected from outside the national Parliaments of the five partner states, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
