It is with deep regret that we report the passing of Hussein Kyanjo, a former Member of Parliament in Uganda. Kyanjo was a prominent figure in Ugandan politics and a respected member of his community.
Certainly, haji Hussein Kyanjo was a Ugandan politician who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Makindye West constituency from 2006 to 2011. He was a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), which is one of the main opposition parties in Uganda.
Kyanjo was known for his outspokenness and his commitment to human rights and democracy. He was a vocal critic of the government of President Yoweri Museveni and was often at the forefront of opposition protests and rallies.
In 2009, Kyanjo was arrested and charged with treason after he and other opposition MPs allegedly refused to stand up for the national anthem during a parliamentary session. The charges were later dropped, but Kyanjo continued to face harassment and intimidation from the government.
Kyanjo will be remembered as a fearless fighter
After leaving parliament in 2011, Kyanjo remained active in politics and continued to speak out against government repression. He was also involved in various community projects and was known for his philanthropy and generosity.
Kyanjo’s passing is a great loss to Uganda’s political opposition and to the country as a whole. He will be remembered as a fearless fighter for democracy and human rights, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Ugandans.
Kyanjo’s passing is a great loss to the people of Uganda, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to all those who knew him and worked with him throughout his career. May he rest in peace.
