In a brazen act of deception, Isaac Newton Ojok, a former police officer dismissed for indiscipline, resorted to impersonating traffic police on Entebbe Road, extorting money from unsuspecting motorists to sustain himself after losing his job.
Struggling to make ends meet following his dismissal from the force, Ojok took matters into his own hands, exploiting the absence of traffic officers to carry out his illicit activities, soliciting bribes or threatening motorists with express penalty tickets.
Ojok’s unlawful operation went undetected for an extended period until a vigilant officer at Usafi Police Station received a tip-off, leading to Ojok’s apprehension and subsequent detention pending further legal proceedings.
Accountability in action
With a formal case registered against him, the former police officer faces the consequences of his actions, shedding light on the repercussions of impersonating law enforcement officers and engaging in corrupt practices.
This incident echoes previous cases of individuals impersonating police officers for personal gain, highlighting the importance of combating such fraudulent activities to protect the public from exploitation and uphold the integrity of law enforcement agencies.
Jackson Mukasa, known as “Afande Kawo,” was recently arrested for posing as an FFU officer and defrauding locals under the guise of offering phone tracking services.
His elaborate schemes involved extorting large sums of money from victims, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance against impostors preying on unsuspecting individuals.
Mukasa’s deceitful tactics unraveled when a vigilant victim reported the extortion to the authorities, leading to his arrest and subsequent accountability for his fraudulent actions, underscoring the importance of community awareness and collaboration in combating such criminal activities.
