A statement released by the Federation via their social media platforms confirmed that the two parties had agreed to end their relationship.
FUFA went ahead to thank Micho for his time rendered and wished him the best in his next endeavors.
“Today, Thursday 14th September 2023, FUFA and Mr. Milutin Sredojevic agreed to mutually end the existing employment contract between the two parties. FUFA appreciates all efforts and commitment by Mr. Milutin during his period as Head coach of Uganda Cranes.”
Micho’s sacking has been imminent especially after failing to guide the Cranes to the 2023 AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Cranes finished a point behind neighbors, Tanzania who took the second and final qualifying spot in Group F.
This has been the Serbian’s second spell with the national team. His first was between 2013-2017 when he helped the 39-year-old jinx that had prevented the national team from qualifying for the continent’s biggest football showpiece.
However, he later fell out bitterly with FUFA as he accused them of not paying his wages. Micho was replaced with Frenchman Sébastien Desabre and later on Irishman Jonathan Mckinstry.
Ugandans had grown frustrated with some of the former SC Villa’s tactics. These varied from his team selections to the type of football played.
FUFA will definitely embark on the hunt of a new manager. This is as the Cranes will be back in action in November. They will be facing off with Guinea in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
