The family of Cedric Babu Ndilima, a prominent media personality, sports administrator, and political leader, has released a tentative funeral programme following his passing at the age of 49 after battling severe heart failure.
Cedric Babu passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.
Plans are in motion to repatriate Cedric’s body back to Uganda, where he served as the Vice Chairman for Kampala in the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).
Michael Mawanda, the PLU’s Director of Mobilisation, anticipates the body’s return to Uganda by midweek, with an expected arrival on either Wednesday or Thursday. Final funeral arrangements will be made once the exact return date is confirmed.
Funeral Programme Details
The family has outlined a tentative funeral programme, commencing on Sunday, June 1. Evening prayers will be held at Cedric’s residence in Kololo on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at 5:00 PM each day.
A mass will follow on Wednesday, June 4, at 6:00 PM at Captain Francis Babu’s residence in Naguru, leading to a night vigil at 8:00 PM.
On Thursday, June 5, another mass and vigil will occur at the Naguru residence. A requiem mass is scheduled for Friday, June 6, at Rubaga Cathedral, followed by the transfer of the body to the family home in Kamengo for an evening vigil.
The final funeral ceremony is slated for Saturday, June 7, with the specific timing yet to be confirmed.
