Former Uganda Cranes striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma has revealed that he was awarded fake land by his past club KCCA FC. Sserunkuma won the Ugandan Golden Boot on two occasions.
Asked what incentives came along with this, he said that the first time he won it, he got nothing.
However, in the last round of being crowned the UPL top scorer, he was given a car. KCCA also tried to honor him and they gave him a piece of land measuring 100*100. The footballer said that he’s yet to receive it.
He was sent to Jomayi by the KCCA hierarchy to go and get the land. But on reaching there, the plots he was shown were already being occupied. The case is even still in Court but he might not get anything out of it since his club hasn’t put much interest in the case.
Read his statement below;
“I might say that being the top scorer on two occasions has really got me something. On the first occasion, I didn’t get anything but I got a car on the second time. KCCA also tried to gift me a plot of land. But when I was sent to Jomayi to tour it, the plots they showed to me were already being occupied by people. The case is in Court but I don’t expect much from it because the club hasn’t given it much importance.”
Geoffrey Sserunkuma who has played for a number of clubs both locally and abroad said that he’s earned from the sport. This is because he was born in the ghetto but now lives in an upscale setting.
Additionally, the footballer said that the sport in Uganda is still below par. This is because footballers are given unfavorable terms such as payment. Sadly they are also not allowed to divulge the information regarding their contracts.
