Government Did Not Sensitize Masses Enough About New Covid Variants, FDC

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has blamed the government for not sensitizing the masses enough about the new covid variants. According to them, this has thrown the public in a panic state. The party deputy spokesperson, John Kikonyogo said this while speaking to journalists at their head office in Najjanankumbi. He added that he doesn’t agree with the figures about covid 19 as given by the Ministry of Health.

“These figures they are giving us are not the right figures. All of you have one or two people who have died of Covid-19 in the last five days.”

He took the same opportunity to announce the closure of their offices till further notice. With the rising cases, he says, it would be risky to keep their workers coming to office.

“The party has decided that from Tuesday, our headquarters and all our other offices in the country will be closed until we communicate otherwise. This is to ensure that our staff and members are protected from acquiring infections,” Kikonyogo said.

Yesterday, Dr. Kizza Besigye while on NBS Morning Breeze said the country needs a total lockdown to tackle these variants. He however said, government can’t take that risk because they don’t have the means of taking care of people as they are home.

Some Ugandans this time round, are in support of a total lockdown due to how fast the virus is spreading. However, others just want the economy to be open and let people take precautions because we can’t be locked down forever.
