Government Releases The Program for Museveni’s Swearing-In

The Government has released the program for Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony. The function will start at exactly 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.

“The swearing-in procedure will see the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission invited by the director of ceremonies to proceed to the swearing-in podium and then invite the president-elect to proceed to the swearing-in podium where he will be presented to the nation,” the program reads in part.

“The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission will then invite His Lordship the Chief Justice to proceed to the swearing-in Podium to administer the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of President to the president-elect. His Lordship the Chief Justice, the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, and the Chief Registrar will proceed to the swearing-in podium and the Chief Registrar will present the Bible and Oath of Allegiance to the president.”

After signing the oath of allegiance, he will receive instruments of power of the Republic of Uganda. Immediately after this, the chief of defence forces will hand over the instruments of national defence to him.

“H.E the president will then take the presidential salute while the parade adopts the Alfa Formation, concurrent with the rising of the flag and a 21 gun salute. The president will then inspect the guard of honour.” the program lays.

This will be the sixth term of President Museveni in power. Apparently, Wednesday is a public holiday to enable all Ugandans to witness the ceremony.

Meanwhile, over 4000 people will be attending this ceremony amid coronavirus. However, Min. Judith Nabakooba assured Ugandans that they will first test all these before they let them in.
