Government Should Support Families Of Accident Victims – Kagadi MPs

Members of Parliament from Kagadi district have tasked the government with giving a helping hand to the families of the accident victims.

The nasty accident happened in Kagadi district and 18 people died after a taxi in which they traveled got crushed by a trailer on Sunday.

Buyaga west MP, Hon. Barnabas Tinkasiimire and Buyaga East MP Eric Musana addressed parliament on 19th July, 2023. They noted with concern that the President has occasionally given handouts in such emergency situations.

They then based on this to ask for his help to lift up the people of Kagadi to meet burial expenses.

Two lawmakers also suggested a general redesign of the road where the fatal accident happened. They said the spot area has a very deadly corner likely to cause more accidents.

Hon. Eric Musana further asked the government to automate an active emergency response unit. He said this could be very resourceful in saving lives that would be needing instant medical attention to avoid death while in transit to the hospital.

The third deputy Prime Minister Rukia Nakadama responded to the matter by cautioning road users on reckless driving and speeding.

Furthermore, she said that the President always responds by helping on a voluntary basis. However, she said she will be communicating further on the matter.
