Currently, people have been filling forms with their needed information. Earlier on the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabanja said this money is for those in real need of it.
However, last week, Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Henry Musasizi, said those who were unemployed before lockdown is not their priority.
“Before the lockdown, you were not working, even during the lockdown, you aren’t. You are not our target, maybe you may get the money by chance.”
The news going around is that priority is going to be given to those in the entertainment industry. This is because these have not been working since March 2020. Second in place, are the teachers who have been on and off because of the lockdown.
However, for the teachers, only those in private schools plus those who are not on the payroll of government schools will be considered.
People have however said Ugshs100,000 is not really enough. Some families are pretty large so this may take them for only a week. As they say though, half a loaf is better than no loaf.
By the end of this week, this exercise will probably be done in case it is well planned. Until then, there is anticipation.
