The Nkuloga singer while appearing on NBS After 5 program said that he wants to win a Grammy Award this year as well as filling the London 02 Arena.
He therefore asked all Ugandans to support him and other musicians at large.
“This year, I want to fill London’s stadium, 02 Arena and also bring a Grammy Award to Uganda. I therefore ask all Ugandans to support us,” he said.
The singer then said that he believes Ugandan music is stronger than what they are portraying. Apparently, ot’s actually the lack of support from Ugandans that let’s the industry down.
The singer cited an example of Nigerians who are well known for pushing and supporting each other’s hustle. He further said that its hard for Nigerians to embrace what’s foreign unlike Ugandans.
Grenade also talked about drugs which are hampering some musicians in the industry .
He said that for his case, he stayed on the streets for long but survived them.
Some of the responses on social media were negative and discouraging while others encouraged him to believe in his dreams.
However in reality, the singer seems to be aiming beyond his reach and prematurely.
There have been only a handful of singers from Africa to fill the O2 Arena. These include the likes of Davido, Wizkid, Burnaboy.
The output, work rate and quality of their music however speaks volumes. They have been around the music industry in Nigeria for almost a decade and horned their craft to perfection.
Grenade therefore has a lot of work to do such as his music crossing borders. Becoming a household name in Uganda and on the Continent are some of the basics he has to major in first.
