Apparently, the deceased has been identified as Alex Kayanja Ssekandi.
The former MP revealed that his son had been admitted to the hospital for two weeks. Unfortunately, he couldn’t return home alive. The former Speaker added that this is a very difficult and trying time for his family.
He can’t believe that his son is dead and already misses him. However, he didn’t provide further details about the cause of death and burial program but these will definitely be given in due time.
“I announce the sudden death of my son Alex Kayanja Ssekandi. Alex passed away yesterday from Lubaga Hospital where he had been admitted for the past two weeks. It’s really a difficult time for me and my family. Rest in Peace my beloved son, I can’t believe you are no more,” he revealed.

Edward Ssekandi retired from politics following his loss in the 2021 parliamentary elections.
Born in 1942 in Masaka, he took on a career as a lawyer before formally joining politics. He was and has always been a close ally of the ruling NRM government in which he served for many years.
Additionally, Ssekandi was Uganda’s speaker of Parliament between 2001-2011. He was replaced by Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga as he transcended to the Vice President role.
Furthermore, he was later dropped and replaced by the current vice President, H.E Hon Jessica Alupo.
Currently, he spends most of his time traveling around the world with his wife, Margaret Ssekandi. The sad news of his son’s passing is also the first time he has been heard from in a long time.
