Ever wondered how open you should be while dating. People say you should say everything for the sake of the relationship. Well, it surely depends on a lot. How long have you dated the person you are with? Do you see a future with them? Do you need to say what you want to say? How important is the issue you want to bring up? Will they understand you anyway? It’s a lot of things altogether.

The truth is that no relationship can thrive on lies. It surely ends in tears as it is said lately. However how honest should you be with them while dating? There are things that should only be told to someone who you are sure is going to stand by you. There is history about you that could make someone run away from you and you are a good person. So how do you handle that?

Let your partner understand you. Allow them to know you so that by the time you tell them anything from your past, they won’t judge you. Don’t be so quick to let them in, take your time. Some people don’t even wait for the first date to open up. Only say what is most important for that time. Sometimes you are sharing your whole life with someone who just wants to be there for a moment.

Relationships must be built on now. If yesterday has to come in, it should come in as a way of them knowing you better. The past is less important especially when you don’t leave in it anymore. Let the people who want to love you, love you as you and carry the whole baggage along.
