How To Spend Time With Your Children When You are Home

These days parents hardly spend time with their children even when they are home. The speed at which the world is growing has made everyone run at a terrific speed that we have forgotten what is important. Parents are busy, children are busy, everyone is busy. However, being busy should not be an excuse for us to neglect our responsibilities as people.

This is why children are so unruly these days. No one is talking to them, no one is giving them time so they take in all they hear. No one is going to shape your child better than you their parent. House helps have a limit, television has limits but you don’t. Make time for your children. Talk to them about issues pertaining to life. Play with them, be their friend.

First of all, when you are home, avoid carrying work with you because you will be distracted. Wake up in the morning, prepare breakfast with them. Do that revision from school with them. Play some games together. There are so many games, hide and seek, cards, chess among others. This helps in bonding and bringing you closer as parent and child.

Be intentional about spending this time with your children. Plan for it with them. Find out what they would like to do on that day. It’s not bad to get ideas from them, it shows them that you trust them. It’s these little things that actually make them free with you. They can talk to you about anything because you’re not just their parent but also their friend.

Use that time to listen to them, let them tell you how their week was. Their achievements and challenges, hear them out. Pray together with them. It’s not enough to just provide for your children. What makes the circle complete is for you to be involved in their lives positively and physically.
