When you have a good relationship with someone, it’s easy to work with them. It is also easy to rebuke you when you are not doing things right. They can easily help you when you need any kind of help that is work-related.
However, this doesn’t mean that you become familiar with your boss. You must be wise enough to know that much as they are your friend, they are still your boss and that line should not be crossed.
The question though is, how do you cultivate a good relationship with your boss?
Let’s start with how you deliver your work. You must be prompt, no one can resist a prompt person. Do your work like it’s your company you’re working for. Understand the vision of your boss for his company and work in that line.
This will guide you on how you carry out your work. Have a good relationship with other workmates as well. They are the people that will speak for you when an issue arises. Your boss wouldn’t want someone who is in a good relationship with him yet you are in the bad books of the rest.
Learn how to celebrate your bosses, their birthdays. If they are married, their anniversaries. These small things have a way of getting into the hearts of people because they are personal to them.
You must really intend to have this good relationship with your boss because when you fake it, it won’t work. Otherwise, you will give up along the way when all you wanted was what you can get out of it.
Obviously, so many good things come from having a good and close relationship with your boss. When there is a promotion and you qualify, you may get it. So try having a good relationship with your boss.
