Video: Human Rights Defender Takes Ugandan Government To Court Over Beating Civilians

Human rights defender who are challenging human rights abuse are against the torture of innocent civilians in the country.

We have gathered all necessary evidence to back our case,’’says  Ssewanyana Livingstone who’s the current executive director of human rights initiative, according to Nile Post.

We are irritated by the repeated beating up of civilians by the security organizations, this follows the recent scenario that happened at Kyadondo where SFC soldiers hit residents who had gathered in preparation to welcome Kyadondo East member of parliament, Hon Bobi Wine,’’said Ssewanyana.

If this act of corporal punishment is going to continue, we are also ready to challenge it in court, if it’s true that using sticks to beat people is allowed in law. We are however concerned that such actions should also be officially accused in the International Criminal Court ( ICC ),’’human rights director added.
