Jessica Alupo – I celebrate President Museveni For championing Women Empowerment

Vice President Jessica Alupo has celebrated President Museveni for championing women empowerment. She was speaking on Thursday ahead of today’s Pan African Women’s day celebrations.

“I would like to celebrate in a special way H. E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for exercising the true women’s empowerment spirit by appointing up to 36 Female Ministers in strategic positions on the current Cabinet.”

The current cabinet has 45 women and most of them are in very influential positions. Jessica Alupo (Vice President), Robinah Nabbanja (Prime Minister), Rebecca Kadaga(First deputy premier) and Lukia Nakadama (third deputy premier).

Hon. Jessica Alupo has said they are not going to disappoint the president in their work.

“We will reciprocate this goodwill by ensuring that we perform beyond expectations. We are indeed grateful to His Excellency the President of Uganda for his commitment to Pan-Africanism, regional integration and championing peace and security in Africa.”

One of the things the NRM government is proud of is including women. Their government has also endeavoured to uplift women to positions of honor.

Clearly, women now have political space and even the economic sector of the country.

By the time NRM came in power, women were lagging behind in everything. Much as there is still so much work to do, at least the journey was started.
