Phina Mugerwa has become the latest singer to say that she’s never been part of Eddy Kenzo’s led Uganda National Musicians Federation. It appears this federation is on a weakening path as Musicians have continually distanced themselves from it.
It should be noted that Spice Diana who was a formidable founding member said that she’s so busy for the Federation. Now Phina Mugerwa has also said that she’s never been part of the federation.
The Masanyalaze singer was nominated as the PR of the Federation. Reports confirmed that she had ditched the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA).
She however said that she was never part of the federation in the first place. Apparently, she attended a meeting in which all musicians had been summoned regardless of the umbrella they fall under.
When she got into this meeting, appointments and elections were held there and then. She was appointed the PR.
However, she has been not active in the federation’s business. This is because she’s not sure what the group is all about and what she should be telling the public.
Furthermore, Phina said that her work lies in UMA. And Cindy is the only president she knows.
“I was named the PR of the federation on the first day we converged. However, I tend to use my ears more than my mouth. I haven’t been active in the federation’s work because I don’t know what it is all about. And we advised against the direction it was formed from. Therefore, I can reliably confirm that I belong to UMA,” she said.
