The Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Relief and Refugees who also doubles as the MP of Kitgum, Hon Lillian Aber has revealed that as members of the Patriotic League of Uganda, their hope is that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba provides better leadership after his father, President Museveni leaves power.
One thing that is clear for now is that plans have been beefed up to see that Muhoozi succeeds his father. It’s not clear which way will be used and how this will be affected. But without a doubt, a plan is there.
Members of the PLU continue to deny that theirs is not a political party. It’s rather a civic organization and yet there are harboring political ambitions.
It should be noted that the first son was recently promoted to the CDF role by his father. This bars anyone from partaking in any political activity. However, the groundwork for his political career continues to be done by different individuals.
According to Lillian Aber, Muhoozi was called into the discussion while debating about a political transition. And whether one day he appears on the ballot box, the future will tell.
“When we started as MK movement that grew into this civic organization now called the Patriotic League, the discussion of whether Gen. Muhoozi will be on the ballot is not a discussion for today, it is for the future. We started as the MK movement. These are Ugandans who looked at the personality of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and called upon him as we discussed transition. Our hope is that Gen Muhoozi can provide leadership better after Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni,” she said.
The MP added that all this talk of the General running for the Presidency is because of the too much love Ugandans have for him. Besides, when the time to contest for Presidency, Muhoozi will resign from the CDF role if he is still one.
