The legislator said that he will carry out his role in line with the constitution.
“My role as Speaker will be to execute with utmost diligence the mandate given to me by the constitution and the responsibility that comes with it to preside over the August House for the protection of the national interest & improvement of service delivery systems for our people,” Oulanyah tweeted.
Oulanyah served as deputy speaker of parliament under Kadaga and therefore is well acquainted with his new role.
Meanwhile, Semujju Nganda said he will go back to his roles of legislation after failing in the race garnering only 15 votes. Semujju added that his dream of leading parliament has not materialised and will therefore wait for the right time.
However, Hon Rebecca Kadaga, the former speaker of the 9th and 10th Parliament hasn’t spoken out yet since her loss. We are yet to hear from her and will keep you posted.
