I Won’t Fight For Every Ugandan – Male Mabirizi To Journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala

Controversial city lawyer Male Mabirizi has become renowned for taking up or lodging some of the most bizarre cases in the country.

This has seen some people now call upon him to take a keen interest in some of the things bothering them. This saw him decline a request from NBS journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala.

Njala had requested Mabirizi to take up the case of schools that are bent on getting exorbitant fees from parents. The journalist said some of the things they ask parents to pay are unrealistic.

According to him, the list may even grow bigger due to the theft of these schools.

“Can Male Mabirizi save us from the thuggery of schools in the name of fees? Imagine telling us to pay for the bus, development fees, building on top of the fees? Before you know, they’ll be including Teachers’ weddings & Headmaster’s side chic’s wardrobe. We can’t breath,” Njala tweeted.

However, Mabirizi replied to Simon Kaggwa Njala saying that it’s every Ugandan’s duty to fight for themselves. Mabirizi also had a piece of advice to all parents planning to take their children back to school.

The lawyer said that parents should take their children to schools they can afford.

“I WON’T b’se: 1. You are a CITIZEN like me with equal duty to promote Rule of Law under Para.XXIX(f) of the Constitution, plz Act. 2. Parents are free to choose cheaper schools over ‘expensive’ ones. Hardship in meeting choice obligations is not a Court matter,” Mabirizi replied to Kaggwa Njala.

The issue of school fees is one that has been baffling parents ever since the announcement of school reopening. Despite the government saying it will punish schools that hike fees, the fees structures released by some schools is disturbing.
