According to him, the fact that they are getting angry means this law is addressing something, otherwise, they wouldn’t get annoyed. He says the government is only protecting her people, not attacking them.
“There is nothing like unlimited freedom. The government isn’t going for its people. It is protecting you and me, who have people with natural biases.”
Obore gave an example saying Twitter doesn’t care so they have to use the law to protect their citizens.
“Twitter doesn’t respect African countries; they don’t care, so we are moving into protecting our own citizens. In Germany, Twitter or any social media is given 24 hours to remove hate speech or any false news or fake news. Failure of which they will pay € 50 million fine.”
However, some people still argue saying this law shouldn’t be on our shelves. This is because whatever the government pointed in this law according to them is already catered for in other laws.
“I want to argue that that law (Computer Misuse) shouldn’t be on our shelves. Whatever remedies it’s trying to cure are already taken care of,” Benard Oundo, president Uganda Law Society said.
