During the press conference, Col. Shaban Bantariza told reporters that the government accepted the reviewed rates of the salaries and pocket-money for the public servants that include lunch, sitting allowances, transport etc to let officers to survive with the current economic condition.
Nevertheless, in the letter read by media, president Museveni was shocked to see unbelievable increments and yet the money wasn’t included in the approved current budget, according to Nile Post.
Why was the new allowances approved by cabinet and yet the budget was already passed?,’’the president wondered.
The new increased allowances include Prime Minister’s day to day’s which was increased from Shs200k to Shs490k whereas the vice president’s hit from Shs210k to Shs500k.
The increased pocket-money for cabinet ministers hit from Shs190k to Shs475k whereas the State ministers from Shs185k to Shs470.
Night allowances for Chief Justice rise from Shs195k to Shs480k whereas for High Court judges also hit from Shs170k to Shs300k
