The acting Director of Interpol, Charles Birungi said there has been a lot of crowding at their offices. He said this had led to some people taking advantage to extort money from those seeking to acquire a certificate of good conduct. They pretend to help speed up the process.

The official procedure to acquire the certificates takes up to 5-7 days although it can go up to 14 days. This depends on the internet speed and number of applicants.
Birungi has high hopes that the online application system will reduce the time spent processing the certificates to 3-5 days.
Apart from that certificate, the new digital system will enable people to acquire a police clearance certificate. International organizations operating in Kampala and other parts of the country require this kind of certificate .
Another advantageous part of the online system is that one can pay the required amount for these documents using mobile money.
