iPhone Maker Offers Payments For Finding New Workers

Foxconn, the renowned Apple supplier is increasing efforts to recruit workers following agitation at the world’s biggest iPhone factory. The company has even started rewarding cash prizes to workers who help to find new employees.

Those who successfully refer a friend or family member to work at its plant in Zhengzhou, China, will receive a 1,000 yuan award ($141; £117).

The development comes after some intelligence showed angry protests at the factory last week. Apple announced that due to Covid-19 restrictions, the shipments of its new iPhone 14 will suffer a few delays.

Last month, Foxconn apologized for a “technical error” in its payment system. The apology came after protests at the factory in the city of Zhengzhou over Covid restrictions and claims of overdue payments.

As October came to a close, a video circulated showing workers jumping over a fence outside Foxconn.

This apparently happened after a Covid-19 outbreak forced staff to lock down at the facility. This prompted the company to hire new employees with promises of huge bonuses.

Even though it is unclear how bad things are at the company, Apple has warned of delays to deliveries of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The National Health Commission in China reported 36,061 new Covid-19 infections for Wednesday. This new figure indicates a decrease from the 37,828 new cases for Tuesday.
