Amos Lugoloobi, the State Minister for Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development is expected to appear before court today. During his appearance, he is expected to take plea on corruption-related offences against him.
He will be appearing before Anti-Corruption Court Judge Margaret Tibulya to answer charges. The minister is accused of dealing with suspect property after being found in possession of stolen iron sheets.
The suspected stolen items were to be sent to vulnerable communities in Karamoja sub-region.
In recent developments, court relaxed Lugoloobi’s bail terms and gave him his diplomatic passport back. They based this decision on grounds of the nature of his work which requires him to travel a lot.
Court granted him a cash bail of 10 million shillings as well as restricting his movements within Uganda, unless he got permission from court.
Upon the return of his passport, Minister Amos Lugoloobi demonstrated to court that he would not abscond from trial.
He even traveled to Lusaka, Zambia and when he came back, he returned the passport to court. As of now, it is only a matter of time until he shows up in court or risk the recall of his passport to court.
