Musicians and all stakeholders in that field have been trying so much to make sure they earn from their content.
In Uganda, the main way artists earn money is by stage performing or even organizing their own concerts. Most of them don’t earn so much from online platforms.
They have formed different associations so that the government can hear their cries and amend the copyright laws.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened although Kenzo the president of UNMF met President Museveni. However, there is hope that maybe the copyright law will be passed soon.
According to Isaac Rucci, artists and stakeholders in the music industry need to stay focused. He said this will help them have one voice and they will be heard easily.
He said the music industry needs a system and infrastructure because it is among the sectors that contribute a high percentage in taxes.
“What I want to tell the people in the music industry is. Let’s focus on the most important things to build the infrastructure. It’s a crucial aspect for the industry,” he said.
