These will be in five sports disciplines of Athletics, Basketball (3×3), Table Tennis, Badminton and Swimming. And athletics will constitute the biggest number of participants; 16 with 8 per gender.
World Cross country gold medalist from the event held last month, Loice Chepkwemoi of Chemwania High School will lead the girl’s team cast in athletics. The boys’ will be captained by Standard High School, Zana’s Dominic Naido Krop.
“We are seeking for gold medals and respectable finishes as we eye world records,” Krop revealed to reporters.
In other ISF World School Games disciplines, Uganda will also have representatives in Basketball (3×3), Badminton, Table Tennis and Swimming.
Swimming has got 8 competitors led by Olympian Kirabo Namutebi. Basketball also has 8 players (4 per gender), 6 Table Tennis players and 4 Badminton players.
Tracy Justine Naluwooza and Mahamed Rafi Fadilah Shamika who are national team players are part of the traveling delegation.
Two players on the Table Tennis team are also currently fresh from the 2022 East African Championship in Ethiopia. Uganda won two bronze medals while there. The players are Tendo Desire Kasoma (St Michael International) and Philip Martin Napookoli (Kibuli S.S).
The games will take place from the 14th to 24th May 2022. State Minister of Sports Hon. Denis Hamson Obua will lead the Uganda delegation to France. Team Uganda departs the country on the afternoon of Friday, 13th May 2022.
