Amidst the bustling streets of Kampala, a recent clash between Nicolas Ddumba Katumba and Multiplex Uganda Ltd has ignited a firestorm of debate. Mr. Katumba, a seasoned IT expert, was caught in a harrowing ordeal when his car was clamped without valid reason, causing chaos and frustration in the vicinity of the former Nandos building on Kampala Road.
Detailing the sequence of events, Mr. Ddumba recounted his simple intention of grabbing a swift breakfast, only to return to a vehicle ensnared by a clamp.
Despite his efforts to clarify his payment status through Multiplex’s payment-checking service, a critical discrepancy on the clamping ticket emerged – the vehicle registration cited did not align with his own.
Stranded and exasperated, Mr. Ddumba turned to the authorities for assistance, eventually finding himself at the doorstep of Multiplex’s offices.
While the company eventually admitted fault, their sluggish response only compounded Mr. Ddumba’s feelings of injustice and time wasted in the ordeal.
Championing change through legal action
Expressing profound discontent with Multiplex’s handling of the situation, the IT expert emphasized the imperative need for accountability.
Determined to pursue justice, he has taken the decisive step of initiating legal action against the company, with the noble aim of preventing similar distressing incidents from plaguing others in the future.
Despite persistent efforts to solicit a response from Multiplex Uganda, the company maintained a conspicuous silence at the time of reporting.
Renowned for its oversight of street parking in Kampala, Multiplex finds itself under intense scrutiny for its role in this specific episode, prompting questions about its commitment to fair and equitable practices in the community.
