The government yesterday and the covid 19 national task force came up with a strategy of helping people that are likely to be hit most by the new presidential measures in preventing further spread of the covid 19 flu.
These were termed as vulnerable groups and a committee will be set up to determine the vulnerable groups.
Nabbanja added that they will use NIRA details and local authorities information to identify these vulnerable people. The aim is at cutting administration costs.
Nabbanja further said that the people targeted are those that have been termed as hand to mouth people. She also said that a committee would sit soon to determine the vulnerable people because government knows them.
Talking about the money they will give, Nabbanja said that they are still evaluating. However, it won’t be over shs 1 million because the government does not have that much money.
“This stimulus package is going to be an on-off. How can you think about UGX 1 million? We don’t have that money. Aren’t you a Ugandan?” Nabbanja said while talking to NBS journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala.
The newly endorsed prime Minister said that they will start with the urban poor because they can’t afford to run the whole country at once.
