He made these comments while appearing on NBS After 5 program. He added that the industry has been left in the hands of Gen Salim Saleh who will likely crush it.
Lately, the general is the one handling and directing all musicians’ issues. This is so despite him not holding any official position.
Whenever musicians get issues nowadays, the first person they run to is Brigadier Elly Kayanja who eventually delivers them to Gen Saleh.
The Gen recently promised the music industry a COVID-19 relief package worth billions off shillings.
This has led to an uprising in the entertainment arena with different organizations claiming to be the leaders of musicians.
The main competitors for this money is the original Uganda Musicians Association under Cindy and Chameleon’s new group, Uganda Superstars Association.
This is likey to bring up disagreements in the music industry once they disburse the money.
According to Proper, musicians should stop selfishness and focus on the common objective of lifting the ban on the music industry.
“It looks like Gen Salim Saleh has become the controller of the Ugandan music industry. We are giving out the music industry to someone who is not even in the Ministry where it falls but it’s all because he has the bags.” James Propa said.
He also said that UMA had failed to secure the stimulus package for its members. And with the emergence of Chameleone’s group, UMA’s patience is running out.
