According to him, every person is a result of the people that he looks up to. Apparently, the Nana singer looks up to legendary Jamaican reggae icon, Bob Marley.
He also looks up to some Ugandan singers but most especially Maurice Kirya. And just like these singers, he intends to do different genres of music and won’t accept being confined in one box.
“Everyone is a product of their influences. I’ve drawn inspiration from diverse artists like Maurice Kirya and Bob Marley, who represent different music genres. Just like them, I won’t confine myself to one genre. Please, don’t put me in a box,” Joshua Baraka said.
The singer rose to the scene about a year ago with his Nana song which has catapulted his rise to fame. Critics however are still daring him to follow up this song’s success.
Meanwhile, the singer who was at NTV studios happened to be with his idol, Maurice Kirya. The Mulembe Gwa Kirya singer who is promoting his show also talked about his idols.
Apparently, it was his elder brother, Elvis Kirya aka Vampiono.
The dancehall singer used to take him along to sing. Besides, he’s also a prayerful person and therefore church was one of those places where they would share their voices.
