The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II arrived back in Uganda last night from Namibia where he had gone for treatment. Photos shared on social media show the Kabaka being welcomed at Entebbe International Airport by the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, the Nabagerekka Sylvia Nagginda,
“Ssabasajja Kabaka has arrived back in the country from Namibia where he has spent some time relaxing and visiting doctors concerning his health. The Kabaka was welcomed by the Katikkkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, Nnaalinnya Lubuga Agnes Nabaloga, Abaana b’Engoma okuli, Omulangira Crispin Jjunju Kiweewa, ne Nnaalinnya Victoria Nkinzi,” a tweet from the Kingdom’s official X page read.
It should be noted that the Kabaka’s stay in Namibia generated a lot of controversy back in the country. This is especially amongst his subjects.
News circulated that he was in the South African country visiting a psychiatric center. This also raised quite a number of eyebrows about what his health condition was.
Some of his subjects started rising up demanding answers about what was happening to their Kabaka. They accused the Katikkiro of colluding with the Kingdom’s enemies to kidnap the Kabaka.
Furthermore, some of these started attacking the different Namibian embassies across the globe. They were demanding the country to ‘release their King from captivity.’
Apparently, his stay in the country was supposed to be extended. However, Namibia released a statement saying that Kabaka’s visa wouldn’t be renewed.
