The Kigezi region police spokesperson, Elly Maate, said the suspects are Alex Owamani 20, Frank Akanyijuka 24, Marvin Owamani 18, and Kirabo Alex 20.
The suspects were arrested on 15th May 2023 at around 5pm from their hideout in Kabale. Maate said they conducted the search at a rented room believed to belong to the suspects.
During the search, properties like a flat-screen TV and speakers, a woofer were recovered but the suspects failed to account for these items.
“Inquiries underway, upon completion, they will be arraigned before courts of law,” ASP Maate said.
A case of possession of suspected stolen property has been recorded at Kabale central police under reference number CRB 392/2023.
In a similar case, a suspect was arrested on the same date in Sheema over allegations of kidnapping juveniles.
A one Byaruhanga Moses, a taxi driver, had 12 juveniles, 10 of whom were boys and two girls, in his taxi parked at a fuel pump.
A witness got suspicious of the vehicle that had parked there for a long time and involved the authorities who arrested the suspect.
Upon interrogation, the suspect said he had been attending a crusade and had offered the victims a ride back home. Apparently, he had also parked his vehicle at the pump waiting for a one Christine in Kabwohe.
Police investigated and found out the suspect had been driving for 25km. He had also been in constant communication with someone in Kasese. Police further recorded this case under reference number CRB 532/2023.
