Kagame Unveils Rwanda’s First Car Assembly Plant For Volkswagen

The Rwandan president, Paul Kagame has on Wednesday unveiled the first car assembly plant for Volkswagen with a notice which says, Rwanda and Africa is acquiring what it deserves; Brand new and not 2nd hand like it has been before.

The journalists and VIPs were driven in some brand new Volkswagen Passat  from the capital Kigali Convention Centre to the assembly plant.

President Kagame came in around lunch time and joined other participants in the showroom  who were so excited to have seen the 1st ever car assembled in the country.

Kagame himself drove and tasted a black Volkswagen Teramont  which is one of the first car products.

The president remembered the history of cars in Rwanda were the German brand ( VW ) was the first car brand to be driven on the roads of Rwanda. According to Nile Post.

The first car ever to hit Rwandan roads was Volkswagen. When I was still a kid before we were kicked out of this country,  the Beetle with an engine at the back is what I used to see all the time, ‘’ said Kagame.

The Volkswagen joined the local market with professional contractors. Compagnie Francaise de l’Afrique Occidentale (CFAO) is the company which manages all Volkswagen services in Rwanda. CFAO is a healthcare, an automotive / Mobility, Technology and Energy and consumer good service company with more  than 160 years of experience in the above category.

Therefore, I will distribute, assemble and backup Volkswagen products.
