Kampala woman MP elect Hon Shamim Malende has vowed to fight any forms of injustices in society during her five year term in parliament.
Shamim who was sworn in parliament attributed the current strife of violence and detention of Kampala youth in jail to bad laws and luck of government to address poverty and other related inequalities in society.
“As a legislator my mandate will be to cause change in our laws to address injustices and also to protect and defend the rights of the disadvantaged people in society to ensure that we eliminate poverty and Inequalities “Malende said.
Shamim Malende has been on record providing legal service for members of national unity platforum.
On issues of unemployment, Malende pledged to mobilize youth to join saccos so that they benefit from government poverty alleviation programmes like emyooga.
“I will mobilize youth to take advantage of poverty alleviation programmes like emyooga to create enterprises to create their own jobs to become self reliant. It’s time to work with government to provide services to our voters,” she stressed.
About 700,000 graduates join the job market annually however fail to get absorbed in various employment zones leaving many to wonder on streets and waiting for hand outs from politicians.
