Kanungu Vice Chairman Urges Local Leaders To Monitor Government Programs

Henry Mwongyera, the Kanungu Vice Chairman has asked leaders at all levels to be kin and monitor government programs being implemented in their areas.

He said this on Wednesday after a site inspection at Kahihi Health Center IV where the district is constructing an extensive maternity wing.

The Vice-Chairman headed a team including the speaker Frank Byaruhanga, Secretary of Social Services, Deputy RDC Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju among other notables.

The team came to inspect the UGX 104 million extensions. This is after local leaders expressed concern about the ongoing work that had no plan.

The leaders appealed to the Kahihi Health Center IV management committee to always inform the district leaders in case of any challenges. This would help avoid the shoddy work of the construction block.

In charge of the Health Center, Dr. Paul Nsiyalleta said the team observed that as they extend the Maternity ward, they need a building plan.

He said there is also a need for a building tool for expansion of the ward, provision of sanitary facilities. They also need 2 private rooms, an ICU, among other important facilities.

He however said they had not put in place some of these. The team then resolved to put the construction on hold. This will stand until they avail a building plan.
