In his speech, while addressing the country about Covid, the president emphasized that the key to opening schools is to vaccinate more people. This exercise is for especially teachers and other staff members plus children above 18years of age.
The Director of Education and Social Services at KCCA, Juliet Namuddu Nambi said in a statement that they are working with the Directorate of Public Health & Environment (DPHE) and the Directorate of Administration & Human Resource (DAHR) to ensure that the categories above get vaccinated.
The vaccination centres include; Kitante Primary School, Bat Valley Primary School, Namirembe Infant primary School, Makerere University Primary School, St Peters Kanyanya Primary School, St Denis Ssebugwawo SS, Kiswa Primary School, Ntinda Primary School, Busega Primary School and St Peters Nsambya Primary School.
“The guidance from DPHE is that these schools will be vaccination centres for teachers and support staff who are getting the first dose of the vaccine. Those who are due for the second dose should go to the health centres in the city,” said Juliet.
Apparently, the vaccination is going to start on the 25th to 28th of August 2021. However, Juliet Namuddu says if there is any query, there will be another phase of vaccination on 30th of August.
