Kibuli Old Students To Build Shs2 Billion Ultra-Modern Stadium

Former students of Kibuli senior secondary school under their umbrella body,Kibuli Old student’s association (KOSA) have unveiled a fundraising drive for the construction of shs 2billion ultra-modern stadium as the school prepares to mark platinum jubilee in 2020.

According to KOSA president Arch Abdu Wahab Nyanzi the stadium to be facilitated with all modern facilities will boast the schools sports department and training ground for young sports academy.

Wahab said since inception the school has produced academic giants and sports personalities like mike Mutebi, Mugibu Kasule current Chief Executive Officer of Proline Football Club, Philip Obwiny former Uganda cranes player among other professionals.

Wahab was however optimistic that with over 40,000 former students they will be able to mobilize money for the construction of state of art stadium and students hostels to accommodate ever growing students population.

Dr Twaha Kawasi Chairperson board of directors of the school and minister for Education in Buganda Kingdom urged management to involve former students in the development of the school master plan and realization of schools vision and mission.

“KOSA is the primary stakeholders in the management and rebuilding of the school to ensure that the school achieves its mission and vision and development for the future,”Kawasi said.

He said students have powers to build the school as they inspire, mentor and promote the school as ambassadors.

Kibuli SS head teacher Kamulegeyea Mohammed pledged to engage former students in fundraising activities such as marathon run and corporate dinners to raise money for the 75 years anniversary of the school slated for 2020.

The school was established in 1945 as a Junior School, on the 80 acre land donated by the late Prince Badru Wasajja Kakungulu, with the major objective of educating Muslim children in order to redress the historical imbalance in Muslim education relative to other religious denominations.

driven by mission to produce a morally educated individual with skills and knowledge for self and national development, the school aims to produce a skilled dependable individual.

“Our school, not only attracts students not only from Uganda, but even from the neighboring countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, and Sudan. Currently the school population is 2433 with 4 steams per class from Senior 1 – Senior 4 and two streams for the sciences and Arts from S.5 – S.6,”Kamulegeya said.

Kibuli Secondary School has an excellent record as regards the students’ performance in the external examinations at both 0’ and A’ level, 100% of our 0’ level students join A’ level with excellent results and 100% of our ‘A’ level students pass excellently and continue to universities and other tertiary institutions not only in Uganda but also abroad.

The students  are also exposed to variety of co-curricular activities like Sports, and through clubs like; Social Clubs, Debating Club, Music, Dance and Drama, Wild Life Club, First Aiders’ Club, Aids Club, Interact Club, Nkobazambogo Culture Club and the like. The sports activities this school include football, basketball, net ball, table tennis, lawn tennis, volley ball, badminton, athletics and cricket.

“As a school, we are at present the national champions in football and our girls’ basketball team took the national trophy for keeps. This year, after being champions for three consecutive years. Many of our excellent sports students have been playing in the first league clubs not only in Uganda, but also abroad,”
