“I Used To Get As Low As Ksh200 For Sex” Lady Shares Her Painful Journey Into Prostitution

Sometimes people get oppressed which makes them go for unusual jobs for a living. A 25 year old lady identified as Harriet, a Kenyan graduate tried everything to get a job but she failed to succeed at all. According to her, she had a number of basic needs to meet something that forced her into prostitution. She said she used to operate at Koinange street in Nairobi and she would ask for money as little as ksh200 because there were several other sex workers on the same street.

“At times I found it difficult to raise the price so much as there were many prostitutes inline. I could not risk hiking the price because my customers would switch to other ones who would offer at low price,” she narrated. That wasn’t the only challenge in this kind of business as it reached a point where most of us got our services lowered especially during curfew time. She says that she was forced to do door to door prostitution as the curfew could not allow them to operate at night hours, something that really affected their source of income.

The lady reached a time and she wondered why she was working as a prostitute whilst she had a Bachelor Degree in information technology (I.T). The challenge was that getting a job of my profession in the country was a tag of war.

The lady eventually got an I.T job
