LDC Suspends 49th Graduation Indefinitely

Law Development Center, LDC, has decided to suspend its 49th graduation indefinitely due to the expiry of the term of the management committee.

The management committee is in charge of the administration and management of the LDC. Among the duties is to approve the students’ results and this is under LDC Act 1970.

“They postpone the ceremony because the term of the outgoing management committee expired on April 15, 2022. This is before the committee could approve the academic results under process,” a communication by the public relations office for LDC says in part.

However, the PRO informed the public that as soon as they get new management, students’ graduation will take place. This is apparently going to be soon because of the need on ground.

“Once we are done with the appointment of the committee members, which we hope will take place very soon, we shall communicate the new graduation date.”

Last year, only 145 of the 1474 students had passed exams ahead of the 48th graduation ceremony. This instigated a scandal by the students who didn’t agree with this.

Over 90% of students who had failed the exams petitioned the LDC management committee headed by Justice Paul Mugamba.

Later, the management committee directed that they issue these students academic transcripts pending their subsequent graduation this year and issuance of diplomas.

They had scheduled the ceremony for 20th May 2022.
