The Ugandan medical anthropologist, feminist and queer right activist Stella Nyanzi yesterday was rioting about the pandemic lockdown that has kept many Ugandans in total poverty.
Stella Nyanzi’s main concern was to open Arcades, Salons and many other place such that people can resume work. This caused commotion in the city prompting LDU officers to attack and brutally mishandle her up to the Police station.
Her lips, ribs and legs were injured by a certain LDU woman who was merciless.
“A police woman kicked my face, her big black boots bruising my inner lips. An LDU woman punched me hard in the ribs, her toughened fists brutalizing my rib cage. Another police woman slapped my head, her thieving hand pulled my ear ring out of my ear.Police women repeatedly pinched my arrested body, their dirty finger nails tearing my skin. Another police woman jumped up and her thick-soled boot crashed my big toe. An ugly LDU woman kicked my buttocks and asked what I would do about it… I reported these brutes to the magistrate who advised me to sue the individual perpetrators. I reported them to the State Prosecutor who asked me for evidence of the torture. How does a victim retain evidence of torture, yet the human body heals itself each day? How do I show the court the evidence of this torture upon my invisible mind? Shame! Shame upon you, Uganda Police Force, shame!” Stella Nyanzi wrote this morning.
We are not sure whether immediate action will be taken to resolve the mess caused.
She however said in the comment that the bruises are healing, but she doesn’t know how to retain them as evidence for court. I am going to Parliament to make changes such as checking the unbridled brutality of police officers,’she said.
I’m beginning to like you and more! Your acting not like your fellow politicians in Opposition like FDC, DP, People Power, UPC who are now thinking about only removing M7 whereas people are dying and starving! We want a person like you who stands with the oppressed on frontline. Thanks Doctor Nyanzi. May the Almighty God protect you,’Nelly Pain commented.
I see you winning the Kampala woman mp seat. You speak for the voiceless and stand up for the rights of Ugandans,’Alemin Joseph commented.
